Ring Type Joint Gaskets
Ring Type Joint Gaskets are precision machined metallic rings that are designed to seal by “initial line contact” or wedging action between the mating flange and the gasket.
By applying pressure on the seal interface through bolt force the softer metal of the gasket flows into the micro-fine imperfections of the harder flange material. This process results in the formation of an extremely tight and efficient seal.
All our Ring Gaskets are manufactured in accordance with API-6A and ASME B16.20 standards. We are continually supplying the following RTJG into the US Market:
- R-Oval – Ring Gasket
- R-Octagonal – Ring Gasket
- RX – Ring Gasket
- BX – Ring Gasket
The R – Oval Ring Gaskets contact face is oval in shape which provides a high reliability seal and fits the round and flat bottom ring groove flange.
The R – Octagonal Ring Gasket is a more accurate surface finish and dimensions than the standard R – Oval type as it consists of straight surface only. It also requires a higher Torque load to form the seal and only firs the modern flat bottom groove flange.
The RX Ring Gasket is a pressure energized version of the R – Octagonal Gasket and fits the R type flat bottomed groove. It has an increased height and utilizes the internal system pressure to energize and improve the seal as internal pressure increases. Some have a pressure relief hole to equalize pressure on both sides of the sealing faces.
The BX Ring Gaskets form a metal to metal seal on assembly and the efficiency improves as internal pressure increases. All BX Ring Gaskets have a pressure relief hole to equalize pressure across the sealing faces.
